[ sometime after kotetsu has been treated, rika will come up and give a little tug on kim's sleeve. ]

Is he going to be okay?

[He looks down in mild surprise, but answers her without much delay.]

Yes.

He's going to need to take it easy for the next little while, but I expect he'll make a full recovery.

[ she looks a little relieved at first, but... ]

Good. He's too nice to have to do this.

If he had his powers, it might have gone better.

Ah. So you know about that?

... Yes, it would have helped him avoid the injury.

[syndromed]

He told me a little bit about it.

The injury isn't really the worst part, is it? For someone who usually gets to be a hero.

week 2 | monday

[syndromed]

[ mods said we are drawn to the other end of our emotion share link, so... wherever kim is, rika is just trotting up to him.

and then following him around. like a baby chick. ]

[The lieutenant gives her a peculiar look when she approaches, but goes about looking around town for a bit longer. Cecile, in the form of a bandicoot, sits on his shoulder, always looking in Rika's direction and sniffing the air with curiosity.

There's a vague feeling of discomfort that he's trying to ignore.

Finally, he'll acknowledge her.]

Did you want to explore together...?

[Because it kinda feels like that's what's happening, whether they say it out loud or not.]

[ her own feelings are a mild curiosity. she can tell that the discomfort isn't hers, so it's... weird. and interesting? she's almost more curious about the emotionshare than their actual surroundings.

bernkastel is in the form of a butterfly, just flitting around rika's shoulders. ]

Each place we go is so different from anywhere I've been.

It's the same for me. I never actually left home before coming here, so I hadn't seen many places firsthand.

[He's distracted...]

week 2 | saturday

[syndromed]

[ rika is still just baby chickie following kim around whenever she can, and that includes after trial when he tries to wander off to smoke. ]

I was worried we might not get this one.

[voltadomar]

[Yep, he's stepped away from where people are filtering out and just having a nice smoke. Sorry, Rika.]

Me too. Today was... not good.

[His emotional state through the trial was mostly as mild as his outward demeanour. Keeping focused on work keeps him calm. His stress clearly spiked right at the end, though. The cigarette seems to help.]

I'm not sure we can even say we "got it."

[ he hasn't complained about her midnight drinking, so she won't complain about his Single Cigarette.

her emotions had stayed mostly level as well - though at the end she had mostly been feeling irritation. very little of the 'worry' she just mentioned. ah well. ]

We didn't get someone innocent. That was the biggest worry. But it's true that there are probably still killers walking around.

Mm-hmm.

All the evidence is gone, so our chances of identifying them just got very small.

week 3 | tuesday

[syndromed]

[ you know how rika was following kim around like a baby bird during emotion share week? well, now she's doing it again, because of cuddle week. we're exploring together, now, and you don't have a say in it.

or maybe she just enjoys trailing after people quietly...? ]

[Kim's looking out at the big serpent skeleton at the entrance to the town. He seems fine with Rika following along.]

So we had a sea monster, and now we have a sand monster. If I never make it back to the RCM, I might have a promising career in cryptozoology.

[ neat! she's looking for loose bones. why. ]

I'm going to be a crab expert. I wonder if there are desert crabs!

[ ..... she stops poking at bones long enough to make pincers at him. ]

You're probably more likely to find a scorpion instead.

Week 4, wednesday

[ rika is here now. this is just how im starting all our pcs. ]

Did you have fun at the party yesterday?

[voltadomar]

Yes. It was a nice change of pace.

What about you?

[syndromed]

I liked seeing all the dead people walking around.

[voltadomar]

Hmh...

[He wouldn't put it that way, but]

... It's good to see that they're all right. Relatively speaking, anyway.

Week 5, Monday

[voltadomar]

[Sup Rika, Kim's here in the gift shop, checking out what's available. His face has bruises on it -- the same bruises he had his first week here.]

We can really just take anything from here...?

[He's hesitant. It sounds too good to be true?]

[syndromed]

It'll go on our tab, and then we'll run away to another world before we pay!

[ ... ]

Just kidding!

[ well, she's not entirely wrong? anyway, rika has bandages all around her throat. it's fine. ]

[voltadomar]

Hmh...

[He looks like he's not sure how he feels about interplanetary larceny. The bandages on her neck get a look of concern, besides... but there's probably no use in asking about them in public.]

Well, we might as well stock up on what we need.

A lot of stuff here is just silly trinkets, though.

[ not exactly all useful stuff. ... but she is still looking pretty pleased to pluck a stuffed animal off the shelf. ]
